Selection Criteria for Teachers
- A demonstrated ability to establish
positive collegial relations with all staff (provision of current letters
of recommendation)
- A deep, broad, and current knowledge
of subject area
- A demonstrated knowledge of the
International Baccalaureate Program model
- An ability to create and develop,
independently and as part of a team, a curriculum that follows the International
Baccalaureate subject framework (provision of curriculum outline for current
courses)
- Demonstrated experience with inquiry
instruction (provision of student work with teacher remarks attached)
- Knowledge of educational research,
teaching strategies, and materials in curriculum area
- Experience with generic and discipline
specific literacy methodologies
- A willingness to work within non-traditional
school scheduling and organizational structures that meet the needs of students
and the instructional program
- An ability to assist students
to cope with highly stressful situations
- Knowledge of a second language
preferred
- Familiarity with computers and
their application in classroom instruction
