STATISTICAL PROFILE

City-As-School (CAS) is one of the New York City Board of Education alternative high schools, operating administratively within the Superintendency for Alternative, Schools, Adult Education and Continuing Education. Its students are 11^th and 12^th graders who come from any of 85 public, private or parochial schools within the five boroughs. Its four campuses are in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. Collectively, the four sites offer over 500 internship opportunities to its students.

Highlights:

• CAS graduates the largest percentage of students of any high school in NYC, save for the specialized high schools (Stuyvesant, etc.).
• Rate of credit accumulation is significantly higher for CAS students when compared with their achievement in former schools.
• The CAS dropout rate of 3.2% compares well to the citywide rate of 13%.
• The 12.9% of current students had dropped out of high school prior to entering CAS.
• Attendance rate is significantly higher for CAS students when compared with their previous school.
• CAS students take and pass standardized exams at the same or better rate than students at traditional schools.
