The
Brooklyn Residential Center located at Carroll Street in Brooklyn,
is operated by the New York State Office of Children and Family
Services. The Center is a twenty five bed facility for female
residents ages 13-17. The residents are young women who have violated
the conditions of their release. The average stay is approximately
90 days.
The in-house school offers a regular High School Academic Sequence
leading towards a High School Diploma as well as a GED program
designed to prepare students for their High School Equivalency
Exam.
Besides all of the required academic subjects, (Language arts,
math, science and social studies) the center offers the following
additional programs:

• Art Classes
• Poetry Classes
• Computer Classes
• Entrepreneurship
• Science Labs
The Brooklyn Residential Center also has collaborations with Medgar
Evers College, The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the Brooklyn Public
Library.
