For the 6th Annual Korean Heritage Citywide Contest, Albana Toci, a Beacon sophomore, won 2nd place with her essay about a Korean immigrant���s experiences while coming to the United States. Albana, a student from Kosovo who is taking English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, won $100.
Another Beacon student, Myorei Hayashi, a senior, received Honorary Mention in the same contest, winning $50. Myorei came from Japan four years ago and will attend the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where she plans to become a chef. She is working diligently to improve her English.
Congratulations to the winners from the Beacon School.
