New Security Procedures. New security procedures prevent us from allowing connectivity to any site which may compromise our network. Instant messaging and full client services that are installed via CD or download e.g., AOL, MSN, etc. to the desktop create their own path to the Internet. Traffic passed through it is not subject to DOE security nor content filtering system. This means users can gain unlimited access to restricted materials on the Internet and our network will continue to be exposed to to all kinds of IP based attacks, access to personal web servers and ftp servers, and much more, from anyone on the Internet. These services are being blocked immediately. Please note, users will still be able to get to their web sites e.g., aol.com etc., and access their e-mail and other personal information. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. |
