The food service industry can be found in many different settings throughout the NYC VTC sites. Students involved in this industry may find themselves preparing foods for major airlines, hospital and nursing home patients, hotel/catering events and college cafeterias. Students will gain hands on experience in Kitchen/Culinary Arts, preparation of hot and cold dishes, operation of large kitchen appliances. They will become proficient in the use of various kitchen utensils, requirements for maintaining a sanitary cooking area and Line Cook duties for restaurants and cafeterias. |
