Motivation:
·· What is personal information? Elicit
responses. ( Draw a semantic map on the board)
· Can you tell us one personal thing about yourself?
(i.e. I have hazel eyes).
Essential Question(s):
· What kind of information is personal information?
· How do we fill out an application?
· What kinds of personal information do we need to
supply?
Activities:
· Brainstorm different kinds of applications that require
personal information:
· Driver's license
· Credit card
· Savings/checking account etc.
· Have students in small groups of 3 discuss and list
reasons why personal information is required on various forms
and the kinds of additional information required on certain
forms etc. (height, weight, eye color, hair)
· Groups share results with the entire class.
· Do worksheet #8. (students do not have to include
actual social security number)
· Fill out the personal information sheet (worksheet
# 9a). Have students create questions from the sheet. Pair
up and ask your partner the questions.
· Have small groups create a job application (model
1 on the board). Students have to choose the job and create
the application.
· Small groups share their work.
